Looking after teak tables and chairs

• Leave it natural: Grade A teak needs no finish outdoors. Untreated, the table and chairs weather to silver-grey and stay just as strong.
• Or keep it golden: Wash in spring and wipe on teak oil or protector once or twice a year to hold the honey colour.
• Wash once a year: Warm soapy water and a soft brush along the grain – no pressure washers or harsh cleaners.
• Out in all weathers: Teak tables and chairs can stay outside all winter. Fold or stack chairs under a breathable cover if you like.
• Cushions indoors: Bring chair cushions in when it rains and over winter.
• Open extensions dry: Slide extending tables open and shut on a dry day now and then so the runners stay smooth.

What size teak garden table do I need?

Allow about 60 cm of table edge per person. A 120 cm round table seats 4, 150 cm round seats 6 and 180 cm round seats 8. Our extending tables seat 4–6 (120–170 cm), 6–8 (180–240 cm) and 8–12 (200–300 cm). Leave about 50 cm around the chairs to pull them out.

How many chairs fit around a round teak table?

Four chairs fit a 120 cm round table (six slim Hampton folding chairs at a push), six fit a 150 cm round table and eight fit a 180 cm round table.

Can I mix and match teak tables and chairs?

Is teak good for an outdoor table in the UK?

Teak is the best-known outdoor hardwood because its natural oils keep out water, rot and insects. Grade A teak tables can stay outside all year in British weather.
